Midwest Sight Foundation, NFP

"I formed the Midwest Sight Foundation, NFP in 2014 after a truck driver came to the office with the hopes his decreased vision could be corrected with glasses. I had to inform the father of five that his blindness was permanent as a result of advanced glaucoma. He would no longer be able to pass the vision requirements to obtain his CDL license to continue driving a semi-truck. If only this man had been educated and checked sooner, his blindness would have been prevented.

Through the efforts of the Midwest Sight Foundation, to date 70 people have been found with probable glaucoma. Also, over 350 people have been found to be at high risk for the disease. Being able to prevent blindness in even one person affected by glaucoma is a huge success, and is what drives us here."
